About Dr. Robert A. Balko, DAc

Dr. Robert A. Balko is a dedicated clinician of Acupuncture and East Asian medicine who has been serving patients for over two decades. After graduating at the top of his class from the Eastern School of Acupuncture in 2005, he went on to earn his Doctorate in Acupuncture from Pacific College of Health and Science. His educational background also includes a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and an MBA from St. Peter’s University, giving him a unique balance of analytical skills and compassionate patient care.

Throughout his career, Dr. Balko has continued to refine his expertise through advanced training opportunities in Taiwan and China and by participating in volunteer medical missions to Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan. These experiences have deepened his appreciation for the global tradition of acupuncture and strengthened his belief in integrative, patient-centered healing. His dedication to continued learning ensures that patients at the Atlantic Center benefit from the most current and effective methods available in the field.

One of Dr. Balko’s primary areas of focus is neurological care. He has developed specialized protocols for stroke recovery and traumatic brain injury (TBI), studying under leading practitioners such as Dr. Clayton Shiu and Dr. Ayla Wolf. This advanced training has allowed him to provide highly targeted treatments for patients dealing with paralysis, speech and swallowing difficulties, depression, and other neurological challenges. His work also extends to non-stroke TBI patients and those seeking comprehensive pain management.

Another area of focus is allergies and sensitivities. Dr. Balko has been using Advanced Allergy Therapeutics for 16 years to reduce symptoms associated with sensitivities to foods, fabrics, pollens, pets and many more substances. This is a needle free technique that does NOT require on-going treatments and supplements.

In addition to his specialization in acupuncture, Dr. Balko integrates a wide range of complementary therapies to provide a holistic healing experience. Patients may benefit from Photobiomodulation, also known as Low-Level Laser Therapy, which supports tissue repair and reduces inflammation at the cellular level. Herbal medicine, nutritional guidance, Biomat (infra-red) therapy, and Qi Gong instruction are further tools he uses to promote balance and well-being.

Dr. Balko’s practice, the Atlantic Center, is located in Wall, NJ. The environment is designed to be both professional and welcoming, with private treatment rooms that encourage relaxation while receiving care. His approach emphasizes personalized attention, ensuring that each patient receives a treatment plan tailored to their unique needs.

Above all, Dr. Balko’s mission is to help patients achieve lasting health and improved quality of life. Whether through traditional acupuncture, modern therapies, or a combination of approaches, he is committed to guiding every individual on their journey toward balance, resilience, and wellness.
