Acupuncture and Sciatic Pain
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010Sciatic pain, also know as Sciatica, is a condition where the sciatic nerve is impinged causing tingling and pain that starts at the hip and radiates downward along the side of the leg to the knee and, if untreated, continues down to the top of the foot. Untreated, sciatica results in limited mobility, pain, and other problems such as lack of sleep due to the increased pain.
Acupuncture treatments have been shown to treat sciatica effectively, depending on the severity of the condition. A licensed acupuncturist will be able to tell you if your condition is treatable and what the treatment plan would be - everyone is different so treatment plans will vary according to severity, length of the condition, the persons health and ability to heal, diet, exercise, etc.
In addition to acupuncture, I will teach you stretching techniques that will help you reduce or even eliminate the discomfort of sciatica.
